  THE BLIND SPOT identifying the refuting target of Jehovah's Witnesses

  the life of a human being progresses toward maturity and peaks and then gradually atrophies into old age, inability, possibly debilitation and then death.. it is the same for all people unless they meet with an accident or misfortune along that continuum.. i propose that we measure and test the virtue of being a jehovah's witness by focusing on the blind spot of their religion.. .

  what is the blind spot?.

  the watchtower society is in major denial that the members of that religion will actually grow old and die.. as a consequence of this major blind spot the members are less likely to include provisions for that inevitability.. the active and committed jw spends a preponderance of their vital years serving the needs of the group and not for saving for old age.. once that outstanding performance lessens and fizzles into decrepitude--the society itself makes no provision for their senescence.. .

  Excellent post Terry.

  Honestly, I see a lot more of the younger generation (25-35) JWs saving for retirement, even if only a little at a time. Those who aren't working the minimum amount to stay alive pioneering that is. It's often said that there's nothing to lose.seeing their parents and grandparents grow to retirement age without a nickel in savings will make even a Dub think. Some save, while their parents (near retirement age) tell them they're crazy, the end will be here before we know it! 5.. 10 years AT MOST.

  If your favorite JW agreed to watch ONE YOUTUBE video, what would you show him?

  i know it's wishful thinking, but if your favorite jw did agree to watch just one youtube video, which one do you think would be the most effective?.

  Just watched that first video.. It's actually very good! Though some may recoil and shut down at the words "cult" or "brainwashing." Again, this will not compute.

  However, I think the video testimonies in the middle of the first video will have their brains smoking from all the cog dis. "But it's gods law! No blood! Disfellowshipping is loving!" While the "apostates" actually talk of how shunning really feels, or how they let their baby girl DIE when they could have easily saved her.

  This is an interesting idea... It would have to be one that wouldn't trigger the cult personality, and also completely verifiably true. One mistake or half truth and the dub brain will discard the whole thing. If its too aggressive, they will get defensive.

  They would probably be watching it after a discussion of sorts, so one would have to judge by how the discussion was going how the person will respond. If its a spouse, it could easily turn into a fight. A fight like that does huge damage to the process of waking up, and makes it harder to breach the subject in the future.

  ... I can think of one. Perhaps others can? Maybe an objective viewpoint on a matter they feel strongly about? Even losing a case for child abuse often won't click in a dub brain. It's unthinkable for their beloved org to have any culpability in something like that.

  Tonight I celebrate a personal milestone...my 1000 post. Now the big decision...chocolate or extra alcohol or both

  yeah i know its taken me almost 5 years to reach 1000 post and many of you get that in a few months.. but i do take long extended breaks from the forums (especially in summer months for sun an fun).. i've seen where others had made a thread on celebrating this particular point of being a member on here and thoguht well that sounds fun so i will too.. plus considering how close we are to the "end of this present wicked system of things", and that it was going to happen any day now, and right around the corner, i figured i'd not make it long enough to hit 1000 post.

  lol.

  anyways hope this post finds all of you out there in good health, with plenty of wealth and enjoying your life to its fullest.

  Conversation with a JW coworker

  so i started working at my new job in december.

  there is one person in my department who is a jw.

  then there is another jw who works in my building, who just started going to my old hall about 6 months ago.

  His little brain can't compute that you left for legitimate reasons.

  You might not have to set the record straight in the future... Without going into detail, you could just say that you left for personal reasons.. You personally think they are full of shit!

  Memorial Hell

  today has been one of the most aganizing days since i woke up.

  my family has been pressuring me to show up at the memorial for the past week.

  it became very intense today with my dad texting me constantly to get me to confirm and when i didn't answer he would call my wife and then she would constantly nag me to answer my dad and so on and so forth.

  Requirements for Attending Memorial

  luke 10:27 required to attend: love god with your whole soul, heart, mind--and you love your neighbor as yourself .

  required to attend: you have listened to christ (forget verse) where he said you must lose yourself to find him--and in doing so this means that you would not be doing things like competing against other people in the church or looking for status ,or seeking good paying jobs)...etc.

  required to attend: oh and the big one, you are not doing what you are doing (going to memorial/meetings etc) because you are just wanting to make sure you live forever--but instead you do these things purely because you just love god and your neighbor so much..... what would global attendance look like?.

  Yep it would! Or perhaps if they outlawed alcohol... Thats the only thing were allowed to do! Hell, I had a bit of a buzz on at the memorial tonight!

  speaker said we should not partake because when jesus arrives he will take the remnat to heaven and the memorial will be no more.

  just as we will not partake then (because the memorial will not exist) it is only logical that we will not partake now.

  Our talk had the same crap... What was interesting was he said, "we have just learned, that once the last anointed person goes up to heaven, they will no longer observe the memorial." Of course there was NO scriptural reference.

  um.. Is it... NOOO LITE?!?
